Privacy Policy
Data Governance
1. General
We respect your privacy and treat personal data in accordance with applicable data protection regulations.
2. Data Collection
This site has no accounts or forms. If you contact us directly (for example by email), we receive what you choose to send. The site also measures how it is used, as described below.
3. Analytics and Cookies
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count page views and these interactions: clicking the email link and clicking the LinkedIn link. If a page fails to start cleanly in your browser, it also sends a technical error report that carries only the page address. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to tell visits apart. IP anonymization is on, and advertising storage, ad personalization, and ad user data are turned off. Page views record the page address and campaign tags only; any other part of the query string of a link is removed before it is sent. The site also uses Vercel Web Analytics (page views, referrers, and coarse location and device type) and Vercel Speed Insights (page-load performance). We do not use advertising cookies and do not sell or share analytics data for advertising.
4. Your Choices
Installing the Google Analytics opt-out add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) stops Google Analytics. Blocking or deleting cookies in your browser only keeps Google Analytics from recognizing repeat visits; page views are still counted. These choices do not stop Vercel Web Analytics or Vercel Speed Insights, which do not rely on those cookies; a browser extension that blocks analytics scripts stops all three. Blocking analytics does not change how the site works. Questions: contact@danmercede.com.
5. Embedded Videos
Some guide pages include a YouTube video. Until you press play, the page loads only a preview image from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com); like any image request, that shares your IP address and browser details with Google, but not the page address. Pressing play loads YouTube's player from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. From then on, YouTube's privacy policy applies, and YouTube may store cookies or similar data in your browser. Pages without a video make no request to YouTube.
